Belgian musical instrument designer Antoine Joseph Adolphe Sax is the inventor of the saxophone, and produced the first saxophone in the 1840’s. The Adolphe Sax company was then permanently relocated to Paris. In the late 1800’s, Antoine’s son Adolphe inherited the company. In the late 1920’s-early 1930’s, Adolphe sold the company to Selmer.
Adolphe became a Selmer stencil name.
